Growing Lessons for Christians part 2

  1. What is often the result when we are asked to explain our doctrine? Studying the Bible will give us the ability to do what? (2 Tim 2:15 KJV)  Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
  2. Putting God's word working in your life is important for our growth the bible confirms this through David's writings. (Psa 119:11 KJV)  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.(Psa 119:12 KJV)  Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
  3. David also tells us how not to stumble in the dark but through God's word we can see the way in front of  our lives clearly. (Psa 119:105 KJV) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.(Psa 119:106 KJV)  I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
  4. One of the important ways we Grow in Christ is by increasing your faith. (Rom 10:16 KJV)  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?(Rom 10:17 KJV)  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
  5. (Rom 10:18 KJV)  But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
(Mat 7:7 KJV)  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
6.    Three things God tells us to do as we grow in Christ
       (
Mat 7:8 KJV)  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.(Mat 7:9 KJV)  Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?(Mat 7:10 KJV)  Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
(Mat 7:11 KJV)  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
  1. Prayer and Talking to God through Jesus Christ is the way we communicate with God. He certainly tells us to ask and to seek and to find. Lets explore praying or Talking with God.
7. Where did our perfect example (Jesus) chose to pray. (Mark 1:35 KJV)  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. (Luke 6:12 KJV)  And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
(Luke 6:13 KJV)  And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; (
Notice before Jesus made a decision in his life he prayed what a great lesson for you to follow in your life)
